Who may apply?

 You may apply if you have completed or are currently enrolled in

  • BA, BSc (180 ECTS) degree from an internationally reputed university
  • Disciplines: Social and behavioural sciences, such as Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Business Administration, Psychology, etc.
  • Required overall performance: good/very good
     

You can apply even if the BA degree has not yet been completed. Final diplomas must be submitted prior to the start of the semester in September at the latest.


Specific course requirements

You must have completed substantial course work in the following fields. These courses must be graded by the time of the application:

  • at least 8 ECTS in Statistics (including linear regression), completed with a good/very good performance
  • at least 12 ECTS in the areas of International Relations and Comparative Politics, completed with a good/very good performance. A maximum of 6 ECTS may be substituted by courses in related areas such as Political Economy, Political Sociology, Political Geography, Political Psychology and Public Policy, completed with a good/very good performance.
     
     

How do we select our students?

Please note that admission to the MACIS is highly selective. Each application we receive is carefully considered on an individual basis. Only applications that meet the excellence criteria along the full range of information presented will be considered.

We are looking for highly motivated students with a very good academic track record. We aim for a diverse student body that will benefit from the program for their future development and for making significant contributions in their future academic and professional engagements.

What to submit?

Collect the documents early on. You will require:

  • Official transcripts/academic records from every university you attended
  • Language Certificate -  English C1 NOTE: Certificates must be submitted by the application deadline at the latest.
    Please find the recognised certificates and exemptions here.
    (eg. holders of a Swiss Matura, BA degrees with English as the language of instruction)
  • Letter of motivation indicating your motivation and goals for the MACIS programme (no restriction of length)
  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Two academic letters of reference by university professors (postdocs possible) - at least one of them by a professor from your degree-granting institution. Letters must be submitted by the referees online. When completing the online application form you will be asked to provide the details of your referees, including their email addresses.   • GRE: The submission of the external page GRE test is not compulsory. It is, however, strongly recommended for international students graduating from non-Bologna universities.
  • Additional information, e.g. publications, awards or internships may be submitted on a voluntary basis.
